How long is the coffee good for?
We recommend enjoying your coffee within 30 days of opening the bag for the best flavor and aroma. Once opened, oxygen begins to break down the delicate aromatic compounds that give coffee its freshness and complexity.
An unopened bag, thanks to its sealed, oxygen-free packaging, will maintain excellent quality for at least six months. During that time, the beans remain protected from moisture and oxidation, which are the main factors that dull flavor over time.
Technically, roasted coffee that hasn’t been exposed to moisture doesn’t spoil, but its taste will gradually flatten as those natural oils and aromatics dissipate. So while it will always be safe to brew, your cup will taste most vibrant when the coffee is fresh.
According to the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) and the National Coffee Association (NCA USA), properly stored whole-bean coffee can last several months unopened, but is best consumed within a few weeks once exposed to air.
