Most people find that dark roasts work best for traditional cold brew. They produce a smooth, rich cup with low acidity and a naturally sweet, chocolatey flavor profile that shines when brewed cold.

If you’re looking to make classic cold brew, here are two great options (listed from the most familiar to the most adventurous):

For a decaf version, we recommend Canopy Decaf. It has the same full flavor and smooth finish you’d expect from a great cold brew—without the caffeine.

If you’d like a brighter, fruit-forward iced coffee, try a Flash Brew instead. This method brews coffee hot (to extract the nuanced flavors of lighter roasts) and then chills it immediately over ice. It’s almost the opposite of cold brew in terms of flavor profile, bringing out the juicy, aromatic qualities of our light roasted single origins.
